My Angel in Heaven...

Losing my mother right after the new year helped me put things in perspective. Around June 2014, I didn't have the credit score, a dime saved or anything else that suggested I was ready to purchase a home. All I knew was at that time, my mother was gearing up to being discharged from the nursing home before the end of the year and I had to make some serious financial changes. She had a house on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC, however, it wasn't conducive for her to remain in that home alone without assistance to care for her, not only because of her battle with COPD, but because it had numerous steps - which was a big challenge for her. The short of the story is, I prepared for her discharge a few days before Christmas in 2014. Got her home December 23rd and she passed away January 3, 2015. After laying her to rest, about a week later something inside of me said go check out the townhomes down the street....I was living in District Heights, the townhomes were located in Capitol Heights. I did just that and if you read the beginning posts of my blog, you will see how my journey began with pre-approval, to approval, to changing from townhome to single family home, etc.

Last night I didn't get off to sleep until well after 2am, my mother was on my mind. Not only because I miss her so much, but I know she's looking out for me and watching over me. Everything is coming into perspective. I have begun another journey as an entrepreneur and looking forward to running my business out of my new home.

Stay tuned for more pics hopefully by the end of the week....waiting on cabinets to be installed.

Hello Again!!!

It is a lot sooner than I originally thought I would have something to post. I had my Pre-Drywall meeting today with the Assistant PM. All my questions were answered. There were some changes since last Thursday when I previously visited the property with the Guardian Representative.

1. I have BRICK!!!

This home is coming out just like I pictured! See my inspiration below...

Right?

The home building is moving along quicker than expected at this point. However, they will be moving inside after Tuesday, August 25, 2015, so I will have to make calls/appointments with the PM in order to get updates.

Where am I in the process?
I am a few days away from my Pre-Drywall Meeting. The Pre-Drywall Meeting is where you tour your home with the PM so you can view the quality "behind the walls", confirm standard and selected options (i.e., telephone and cable TV jacks, and any changes made per a Change Order Addendum), confirm last minute details that affect framing and finishing materials, review arrangements for completion of your home and review any questions.

On Thursday, August 20, 2015, I had a meeting with Guardian to confirm the security keypad, volume controls stations, speakers, motion detector, cameras and voicelink.

Here are some photos of the inside from that visit:

Also, I received a letter with the potential dates of the New Home Orientation (October 22, 2015) and Settlement (October 26, 2015). All I can say is that we are moving along.
